The first file sharing program ever created, Napster, is back. The name is the same, but the format isn’t. Since 2003, the company has redefined itself as being an online store where people can legally download files.

Rhapsody bought Napster at the end of last year, but the company had yet to buy the UK and German versions, in order to really reach the European market.

"Through the benefit of scale, the strength of our editorial programming, and strategic partnerships, we can now bring the Napster service to even more consumers on a variety of platforms.", said Jon Irwin, president at Rhapsody.

The digital music scene is becoming really competitive, and Napster is back in order to compete with other streaming services, such as Spotify.
