Brazil surpasses 224 million cell phones

Brazil closed August of 2011 with more than 224 million accesses on cell phone operators, according to Anatel (National Telecommunication Agency). In eight months the Serviço Móvel Pessoal (SMP) registered more than 21 million of new habilitations (growth of 10,39% in the year) and teledensity of 114,88 accesses by 100 residents (growth of 9,74% in the year). 
The final number for new habilitations in eight months is bigger than in the last eleven years.

In the total of operation access in the country 183,1 million are pre-paid (81,75%) and 40,9 million are post-paid (18,25%).

In August were almost 3,7 habilitations (growth of 1,67% in relation to July). The teledensity advanced 1,59% (increased from 113,08 in July to 114,88 in August). 

Nineteen states has more than one access by resident: Distrito Federal, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Paraná, Espírito Santo, Amapá, Rio Grande do Norte, Tocantins, Sergipe, Minas Gerais, Amazonas and Acre.
